Sheikh Hamad Mohammed bin Saedan
Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed bin Saedan Endowment Founder

Early Life & Education

From the Kuttabs of Dakhna to obtaining the Elementary Certificate

Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed bin Saedan was born in the Dakhna neighborhood in Riyadh, and grew up in an environment connected to knowledge and work from an early age.

In his childhood, he attended the Kuttabs – the prevailing educational centers at the time – before moving to the Al-Tidhkariyya Al-Ahliyya School in the Al-Bathaa neighborhood, which was established by order of King Abdulaziz. When industrial schools opened in 1375H, he enrolled and simultaneously pursued his formal studies to obtain the elementary certificate externally, successfully completing it in 1376H.

Professional Career & Real Estate Leadership

From government work to real estate industry in Riyadh

He began his career working in the Ministry of Education, then moved to the General Presidency for the Judiciary, where he obtained a specialized course in the Department of Financial Affairs. This equipped him with principles of financial and administrative organization, which were reflected in his job performance and led to a promotion. In 1386H, when a "Surveyor" position opened at the Riyadh Court, he enrolled in a surveying training course that qualified him for the role.

During his government work, his personality was characterized by discipline and sound management. He would save a portion of his salary to own an independent home rather than the room he occupied in his father's house. After achieving this, he made an investment decision to sell the house and use the proceeds to enter real estate. This marked the beginning of his entrepreneurial career, where he co-founded a real estate office in 1387H called "Badr Real Estate Establishment."

Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed bin Saedan represents one of the prominent figures who contributed to shaping Riyadh's modern real estate landscape. His relationship with real estate began in childhood inside his father's office, where he gained early knowledge of buying, selling, and property management. In 1388H, he made the pivotal decision to leave government work and dedicate himself entirely to the real estate sector.

He then established his own business in 1395H by founding the "Hamad bin Mohammed bin Saedan Real Estate Office," which quickly became one of the most prominent real estate offices in the central region. The office was distinguished by its approach of developing land before selling it – an uncommon method at the time – buying large areas north of Riyadh, leveling them, cutting roads, paving them, and connecting services. These efforts contributed to developing key neighborhoods that are today among the capital's most important areas, such as Al- Olaya, Al-Mursalat, Al-Muruj, Granada, Al-Nafal, Al-Yarmouk, Al-Rabie, along with areas on the Dammam highway and the Al-Sali and Al-Malaqa districts.

The office witnessed rapid growth supported by a comprehensive management system that included project management, surveying, supervision and implementation, studies and maintenance, as well as financial management and real estate development and investment management. It was among the first offices to adopt computers in engineering and accounting work, and used microfilm technology for archiving records and deeds.

In 1404H, Sheikh Hamad's vision expanded to include other fields alongside real estate. He founded a holding company called "Hamad bin Mohammed bin Saedan and Sons" as a limited partnership with his sons as partners. Over time, the company's capital multiplied and its activities expanded to oversee various projects and properties, with sons taking on leadership roles that prepared them administratively and operationally from an early age.

In 1407H, Sheikh Hamad founded "Al-Olaya Real Estate Company" with his brothers as a general partnership – a natural extension of the family's journey in the real estate sector. The company provided diverse services including installment sales, property management, and real estate contributions, and played a key role in developing notable projects such as the Ard Taybah and Al-Ghuruub plans. It also managed numerous investment real estate funds to enable all segments of society to participate, and opened the first women's investment office in Al-Mamlakah Tower in 2002, earning ISO 9002 quality certification.

The activities of the Hamad bin Mohammed bin Saedan and Sons Group extended to include several sectors, most notably the industrial and agricultural sector, alongside marketing, investment, and development. Several specialized factories were established in metal forming, galvanization, iron pipes, irrigation systems, and agricultural supplies, in addition to food, furniture, and plastics factories. These factories executed major national projects including projects at the Holy Sites, Al-Faisaliyah Tower, and buildings belonging to national companies. Their production extended beyond local markets to reach Arab and Gulf countries.

Alongside this success, Sheikh Hamad was distinguished by a set of qualities that had a direct impact on his career, most notably optimism grounded in a sound reading of reality and figures, a comprehensive vision, commitment to field work and continuous research, and belief in dialogue as a means of deep understanding and sound decision-making. He documented part of this journey in his book "My Life in Riyadh – The Road to Real Estate and Development," published in 2018, which reviewed significant milestones from his professional and personal life.

As the culmination of his charitable journey and to sustain this giving, he established in 2023 the "Hamad Mohammed bin Saedan Endowment" as an institutional entity to continue supporting development and social initiatives, and to contribute to entrenching the impact of endowment work and serving the community over the long term.

Sheikh Hamad received wide recognition for his community contributions, earning a number of awards and honors, including:

  • Community Service Award in its first edition in 2004.
  • Honorary Membership Award from the Association for Children with Disabilities in 2008.
  • International Golden Knight Award presented by the Supreme Committee for International Public Opinion Awards in the Arab Republic of Egypt in 1995.

As the culmination of his charitable journey and to sustain this giving, he established in 2023 the "Hamad Mohammed bin Saedan Endowment" as an institutional entity to continue supporting development and social initiatives, and to contribute to entrenching the impact of endowment work and serving the community over the long term.

Alongside his economic activity, Sheikh Hamad's impact extended to charitable and social work. He donated several lands, buildings, and residential and commercial complexes to many charitable associations and institutions in the Kingdom. He also contributed to founding and supporting several quality initiatives, including the Charitable Center for Quran Education, the Al Saedan Chair for Affordable Housing and Genetic Behavioral Disorders Research, along with ongoing support for health and educational centers, and the construction and equipping of mosques inside and outside the Kingdom.

His giving extended to providing annual support to more than 120 charitable associations, contributing to the establishment of leading associations, including Insan Association, Mawadda Charitable Association, and Al-Birr Association. He also supported Quran memorization schools and social solidarity funds, assisted those in need and disaster victims, and hosted orphans and people with special needs within ongoing social and humanitarian programs.

As the culmination of his charitable journey and to sustain this giving, he established in 2023 the "Hamad Mohammed bin Saedan Endowment" as an institutional entity to continue supporting development and social initiatives, and to contribute to entrenching the impact of endowment work and serving the community over the long term.
